3 Spurs Players That Need To Secure Loan Moves Away From The Club This Month

It has been a frustrating start to life at White Hart Lane for Vincent Janssen, and he will be determined to turn his fortunes around in 2017, after an under-par first half of the season.

The Dutchman has failed to score from open play at all for Spurs, with all three of his goals coming from the penalty spot, two in the EFL Cup and one in the Premier League. Janssen might be more of a target man to hold up the ball than a man who makes fast runs in behind, but he will be the first to say that his goals return this season has not been good enough.

One thing I can say about Janssen is that he seems to give everything he’s got when he is on the pitch, and I like that in a player. However, the 22-year-old seems a little slow on the ball at times, and doesn’t quite seem intelligent enough with his runs in behind. He always seems to want the ball to feet.

This lack of form could be a result of a few things. It could be due to the pressure he is under to perform in terms of how much game time he will get as a result of his performances. It could be his failure to adapt to English football. Or it could simply be a confidence issue.

I feel that a temporary drop down to the Championship could benefit Janssen. He clearly has the ability to succeed, but my guess is that the Dutchman has suffered from a drop in confidence as a result of a slow start to the season. A loan move would be good for Janssen, but I doubt the move will be allowed to take place. With Kane and Janssen the only two strikers at the club, if Kane was to get injured and Janssen were to move out on loan, where would that leave Spurs? Without a recognised striker is the answer. As I said, a loan move would help the 22-year-old, but unless Spurs bring in reinforcements over the January window, a move is not likely.
