2) Shane Long
Despite his goals record this season not quite back me up here, but I think that signing Shane Long would be a good piece of business for Spurs to get done this month.
The striker has started just five games this season for the Saints, and despite netting just the once this term in the 2-1 defeat at home to West Brom, I feel that Shane Long would offer something a little different up top for Spurs. The Irishman would add a lot of pace to the Spurs attack, something that Spurs haven’t got in terms of a striker at the moment.
West Brom and West Ham are two clubs to have been linked with a move for Shane Long in this January transfer window, so Spurs would face a bit of competiution for his signature should they decide to join the race for the Irishman. Long’s first team chances have been limited due to the presence of Charlie Austin at Southampton. With Spurs having to juggle the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League in the next couple of months, Long could come in very handy with Vincent Janssen struggling severely.
