Janssen Injured, Kane Rested: Tottenham Team News And Predicted Line-Up To Face CSKA Moscow

Spurs are out the Champions League, and I didn’t expect to be saying when the draw was made in August that our last game at Wembley will be for a place in the Europa League. If Spurs avoid defeat, then a place in Europe’s secondary competition will be secured.

It could be a game of rotation at Wembley, but Spurs will be without Erik Lamela, who is still injured but has flown home to sort out a family issue and Vincent Janssen, who misses out with an ankle injury. Toby Alderweireld will return to the squad and Ben Davies is nearing a return to the starting line-up. Here is the Spurs predicted line-up to face CSKA Moscow at Wembley.

GK: Michel Vorm

With this game of little importance, Hugo Lloris could be rested. Vorm played well at the start of the season when the Frenchman was injured, and I think he might start here.

RB: Kieran Trippier

This might be a night of rotation for Mauricio Pochettino at Wembley. Trippier was boarderline awful in Monaco, and might get given a chance to redeem himself here.

CB: Kevin Wimmer

Another chance for redemption, this time for Kevin Wimmer. He wasn’t great against Monaco, and he wasn’t the best at Chelsea either, but he could well play in his proper position at centre-back here.

CB: Eric Dier

Pochettino has said that Toby Alderweireld will return to the squad against CSKA Moscow, but I doubt he will start with the crunch clash at Old Trafford against Manchester United looming. Eric Dier could make an appearance here.

LB: Ben Davies

It has been confirmed that the Welsh is close to a return from injury, and he could well make an appearance. Danny Rose may be rested with the trip to Old Trafford in mind.
