Player Ratings: Monaco 2-1 Spurs – A Night To Forget…

Spurs were eliminated from the Champions League after just five matches on Tuesday night as they fell to a crushing 2-1 defeat at Monaco, in what was a terrible performance in a must-win game.

Spurs were lucky to go into the break level after Monaco missed a penalty, but fell behind after 48 minutes. Harry Kane levelled things up again from the spot four minutes later, but Spurs could not hold on for more than a minute as Monaco went ahead once again straight after Kane’s leveller.

The Lilywhites failed to come back from behind again as they crashed out of the Champions League in disappointing fashion. Here are the Spurs player ratings.

Hugo Lloris- 7

The Frenchman was the only Spurs player that actually had a good game. He saved the penalty, and made two or three magnificent saves to keep Spurs even slightly in the game.

Kieran Trippier- 4

Allowed way too much to come down his side. Also offered very little going forward, a very poor display. For me, Kyle Walker should have started this one.

Eric Dier- 4

Dier has built up a good partnership with Jan Vertonghen, and did not look the same defender playing alongside Kevin Wimmer. He was reckless at times, giving away the penalty. A very off-colour performance.

Kevin Wimmer- 4

I said Wimmer wasn’t too bad in the game against Arsenal. But boy, was he bad here! Very much like Dier, he didn’t look like he had anything in response to most of what the Monaco attack was throwing at Spurs.

Danny Rose- 4

Just like Trippier, Rose allowed too much to come down his side. He was caught out of position on countless occasions and I am surprised that Spurs conceded only two goals.
