Eriksen Recalled! The 4-2-3-1 XI That Pochettino Must Field At Stamford Bridge

Spurs crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night in what was a terrible performance. They will need to improve if they are to take anything from the trip to Chelsea on Saturday, who have won their last six in the Premier League without conceding a single goal.

Spurs will make the trip to Stamford Bridge without Toby Alderweireld, Ben Davies and Danny Rose, who are ruled out with either injury or suspension. These absentees takes the 3-5-2 formation out of the equation, a setup that worked well in the North London derby a few weeks ago. Erik Lamela remains injured. Here is the 4-2-3-1 starting eleven that Pochettino must field on Saturday.

GK: Hugo Loris

What a world class keeper this man is! I don’t care what he asks for, get him a new contract Mr. Levy. Spurs could have lost 4-1 or 5-1 if it wasn’t for Lloris making some top quality saves. He will be key here again.

RB: Kyle Walker

For Spurs to stand any chance, Walker must defend better than Trippier. We all know how much of a threat he can be going forward, but playing four at the back, Walker will have to pick his moments to charge forward.

CB: Eric Dier

This man made some crunching tackles in this fixture last season that we all want to forget. Part of me is saying I would like to see more of the same, but how he didn’t get a red card last season beats me. Spurs can’t afford to go down to ten men against such a strong Chelsea side at Stamford Bridge.

CB: Kevin Wimmer

Wimmer was boarderline terrible at Monaco on Tuesday, and he will need to up his game here. His partnership with Eric Dier will need to strengthen if Spurs are to stand any chance of getting a result at Stamford Bridge.

LB: Jan Vertonghen

It was a real mistake to leave Vertonghen out in midweek, and he will for sure return here. However, he will play at left-back due to the injury of Ben Davies and the suspension of Danny Rose. We have seen the Belgian play here before but will not offer the same attacking threat as Rose or Davies.
