4-2-3-1 Again: Tottenham Team News And Predicted Line-Up To Face Bayer Leverkusen

CDM: Victor Wanyama
Wanyama has been playing extremely well recently, providing an excellent strong shield in front of the defence. He has proved that he can cope on his own in the defensive midfield and still provide good protection for the defence in a 4-1-4-1. However, he might need some help here.

CDM: Mousa Dembele
Mauricio Pochettino was forced to bring on another defensive midfielder in the return fixture in what was turning into a second half onslaught. How we kept a clean sheet I do not know. Although playing at home this time, we know how dangerous Leverkusen can be. In light of this, Pochettino might be tempted to play a 4-2-3-1, with Dembele looking to push forward whenever possible.

RAM: Christian Eriksen
Erik Lamela could be ruled out through illness, so Christian Eriksen could well get the nod on the right side of the attacking three. The Dane has been playing okay, but for me, I would like him to create more chances for teammates, in recent games, he hasn’t, and our goals coring record has suffered.

CAM: Dele Alli
Alli hit the crossbar on Saturday, coming agonisingly close to putting us in the lead before the Janssen penalty. He has been an influential figure for Spurs this season, putting chances away as well as creating them. A good performance from him will be key to beating Leverkusen.

LAM: Heung-min Son
Son failed to carry his electric form from September into October, but has still been playing well and looking a threat. If he can cause problems for the right-back on Wednesday night, he can be a key figure in the Spurs attack. I expect him to get the nod on the left side.

ST: Vincent Janssen
Janssen’s first Premier League goal came on Saturday against Leicester, but we are still waiting for his first goal from open play. More runs being made by players in behind would be good to see so Janssen can start to play a few more ambitious passes as he holds up the play. Surely it won’t be long until he is scoring for fun?
