Player Ratings: Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham – Spurs Midfield Frustrates

Josh Onomah- 5

A poor night for Onomah for a player with so much skill and potential. Seemed to run out of ideas at times in terms of how to beat a player and took a little too long on the ball for my liking. I expected better.

Tom Carroll- 5

Never have been a fan of Carroll, and probably never will be. He was virtually non-existent for most of the first half and should not have been playing behind the striker, not enough creative attacking ideas. Rightly replaced by Lamela in the second period.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou- 6

Unfortunate to slip in the build-up to the first goal. He showed the right signs, but I would like to see him use his pace to beat a player down the line, if that means playing him on the right on his stronger foot then so be it.

Vincent Janssen- 6

Showed good composure to score from the spot to get Spurs back in it, but another frustrating night for the Dutchman. He was left a little isolated at times, but I would like to see him try a few more ambitious passes. It will come I am sure.

Subs

Erik Lamela- 7

Had a positive impact on the game as soon as he came on. Offering a little bit of pace, much more than Carroll did throughout the whole game. Won a slightly dubious penalty, and could have well won a second one on another day.

Victor Wanyama- 6

Played well, showing a good bit of strength and pace to beat his man down the right and fire in a low shot. Another solid showing from the summer signing.

Shayon Harrison- 5

Wasted an excellent opportunity right at the end! You have to sympathise with the youngster, and maybe ten appearances into his Spurs career, he would have brought the ball and down and we would have seen the back of the net bulge. But it wasn’t to be.
