3 Improvements Vincent Janssen Must Make To Succeed At Spurs

Vincent Janssen arrived over the summer from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar for a fee of £17m, but has failed to hit top form for Spurs as yet this season, netting just twice, with both goals coming from the penalty spot in the EFL Cup.

The Dutchman has a lot of potential and ability, but here are three improvements to his game that he must make if he is to be a success at Spurs playing as a lone striker.

1) Play More Ambitious Passes

We all know that Janssen’s strongest attribute is holding up the ball and holding off the opposition. He does this with pretty much a 100% success rate, and you cannot argue with his ability to lay off a short pass for his teammates.

However, the Dutchman can either stick to playing his short passes, or he can look to play a few more ambitious passes. At the moment, few passes are misplaced by Janssen, but for me, to make things happen, Janssen must look to play a lot more ambitious passes, and if that means misplacing a couple, then so be it.

Using his excellent hold up play to their advantage, I would like to see more Spurs attackers make more runs in behind and off the lone striker. Doing this would create a lot more chances for the team and would increase the influence of Janssen up top.
