UCL Player Ratings: Tottenham 1-2 Monaco

Erik Lamela- 5

Stupidly gave the ball away for the first goal from Bernado Silva, but provided the cross for Alderweireld to head us back into the game and nearly picked out Dele Alli on the stroke of half-time with the 20-year-old inches away from levelling the game going into the break. Having said that, Lamela will be remembered in this game for giving the ball away for the goal unfortunately.

Christian Eriksen- 5

Popped up in a few good positions throughout and played a few good passes spreading the play well, but it was the Dane’s final ball that let him down on the night.

Son Heung-min- 6

I thought Son was fairly unfortunate to be substituted at half-time, and had his shot cleared off the line in the early stages of the game. Although not as good as he played on Saturday, Son still looked very dangerous down the left-hand side and could have scored early on, but saw his finish cleared off the line.

Harry Kane- 4

Another disappointing performance from Harry! Kane is lacking confidence in front of goal, and this really showed on the night. He really should have put away the chances created for him late on, but it was the greediness of Kane that angered me most. His willingness to take on the shot when the pass or layoff was the better option was disappointing, but surely it won’t be long before he gets his confidence back will it?

Subs:

Mousa Dembele (Son)- 7

His introduction at half-time reminded us of how much we have missed the Belgian over the first few games of the season. His strength to hold of the opponent was incredible and will surely feature regularly from now on.

Vincent Janssen (Lamela)- 7

The Dutchman came on with 20 minutes to go and could have easily help to fire Spurs level if one of the chances he created had been converted. The new signing held the ball up excellently and was unlucky to see his work not taken advantage of.

Moussa Sissoko (Dier)- 6

Brought on with little under ten minutes to go, Sissoko looked to pose a threat down the right-hand side, but for me wasn’t on the pitch long enough to make a real impact.
