With Mousa Dembele not yet back, Sissoko could still be selected to play in the middle of the park in a more defensive role alongside either Victor Wanyama or Eric Dier this weekend.
The Frenchman’s strength would be well used in a defensive role and his powerful running on the ball would allow Spurs to make a swift transition from defence into attack.
With a the games coming thick and fast for Spurs in the coming weeks, the expiration of Mousa Dembele’s ban will be a huge bonus, and I could see Sissoko and Dembele proving a tough pair to beat in front of the defence, if Pochettino decides to use the Frenchman in that way. However, this seems unlikely with the addition of Victor Wanyama to the squad over the summer transfer window.
