3 Key Players For Tottenham If They Are To Beat Monaco

Following a comfortable 4-0 victory away at Stoke over the weekend, Spurs enter their first Champions League Group Stage match on a high as they prepare to line-up against their French opponents Monaco.

Spurs’ pot four opposition have made an extremely strong start to the French league season, dispatching the Champions PSG 3-1 a couple of weeks ago. Here are three players that will be crucial to Tottenham if they are to win on their return to Europe’s top competition.

The Belgian defender has proved to be as solid as a rock in the Spurs defence, helping Pochettino’s side to their second clean sheet of the season at Stoke.

The attacking threat from Monaco will be stronger than that offered up by Stoke on Saturday for sure, so Alderweireld will have to be alert against a strong Monaco attack that includes Bernado Silva. The French league leaders have scored 12 league goals in just four games, and the Spurs back line, Alderweireld included, will have to be alert in order to keep a clean sheet.

Monaco have a wealth of attacking options available to them, and with both Joao Moutinho and Falcao playing under half an hour in the 4-1 league win away at Lille over the weekend, both could feature from the start on Wednesday, providing an extremely dangerous attacking threat.
