Tottenham were far from their best in the clubs opening day draw with Everton, but I wanted to take some positives from the game and analyse three of the best performers from the game. Read our Player Ratings in full here.
1 – Kyle Walker
In an England campaign full of underperformers this summer, Walker was one of a select few England players to actually turn up at Euro 2016. He carried on with this form in the Premier League opener, always looking a threat going forward and crucially, providing the assist for Tottenham’s second-half equaliser. With a WhoScored rating of 7.74, Walker was the second highest rated Tottenham man in this fixture. I’ve talked a lot about his attacking offerings but his defensive statistics were good too. 3 tackles, 4 clearances and 1 interception. Pochettino will hope Walker and continue to offer this defensive protection in the big games throughout the season.
