3 – The Defence
Put aside that catastrophic last day of the season and Tottenham’s defence is a very stubborn force. I would go as far as to say they have the best back five in the Premier League, particularly the central three: Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld. They have an understanding and a chemistry that no other Premier League team in the top 4 has. Look at Arsenal, nobody knows who will partner Koscielny next season and if he gets injured they’ll be a mess. Manchester United and Manchester City’s defences will be completely new and they’ll take time to gel – Conte also looks like he’ll revolutionise his defence. Perhaps only Leicester can compete with Spurs on the defensive front and it remains to be season whether the likes of Wes Morgan and Danny Simpson are capable of playing so well beyond one season.
