Reports: Three Signings Tottenham Are Trying To Complete This Summer

It has been a fairly quiet start to Tottenham in this summer’s transfer window, but things could be about to hot up according to reports in the press in recent days. An attacking signing appears to be a priority, whilst there also remains a desire to sign a new defender.

Tottenham will compete with Borussia Dortmund to bring Andre Schurrle back to England, according to reports from Sport-BILD in Germany.

After struggling to re-adjust to the Bundesliga, Schurrle initially struggled to break into the Wolfsburg team following his switch from Chelsea. But in 2016 the German has excelled, scoring 9 goals and making 3 more assists in the Bundesliga this season. An interesting observation is that he has scored 5 goals from 8 starts as a striker. Tottenham scouts may have noted this and that may explain the interest as they look to add a striking alternative to Harry Kane to the squad.

The 25-year-old is now entering his prime years and with 20 goals from 50 Germany caps (many of those from the bench) his quality is obvious. Although Schurrle never set the league on fire for Chelsea, he did at times show great quality and should he join Tottenham this summer he will return to England with more maturity to excel.

Schurrle currently appears to be fully focussed on Euro 2016, so nothing is likely to happen on this transfer until at least after Germany exit the competition.
