We have seen in the past that signing players from abroad can be a risk. Look at the seven players that Spurs brought in over the summer of 2013. The fact that only three are still left at the club and only two are regular starters tells most of the story.

Not only has Wanyama gained Premier League experience, has has also shown that he can perform at a high level in the Premier League. You only have to watch a few of his performances at Southampton to see evidence of this, and for around £11m, this is exactly what Spurs are looking for.

Although there is no guarantee of success for Wanyama at Spurs, in my opinion, the odds of succeeding are increased not only by the Premier League experience, but also as I mentioned earlier, the experience of playing in a Pochettino side.
