4 – The Defence
A great man once said that strikers win games and defenders win titles. Tottenham have conceded just 16 goals in the first 20 games of the season, less than any other Premier League team. The signing of Toby Alderweireld to partner Jan Vertonghen in defence has been central to the teams success this campaign. If this Belgian duo can continue to form a resolute bond in defence, the chances of Tottenham winning the title will increase massively. Kyle Walker has also appeared to improve this season, with some much better defensive performances. Pochettino’s well-drilled midfield has certainly played a part too. With greater protection in front of the back four, some pressure has been relieved from the defenders.
