What do Tottenham need from this transfer window?

Every window, it seems to be the same thing every year with Tottenham Hotspur. We have a lot of rumours bringing players in, and rumours taking players out, but unfortunately, only the latter seems to come true most of the time. We have once again been linked with a whole host of players, with only 2 coming in so far in Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld, but Etienne Capoue has already gone, and many more seem to be set to follow him out of White Hart Lane, and whilst it is needed to sell some players who wont play, we also need to bring in some to replace them.

So what is it we need exactly to be a great side? Well, first of all a striker, and not just a back up for Harry Kane, but someone that will come into the side and make the difference. Too many times we have seen Roberto Soldado come on in the second half of games and make no impact at all, so a new striker who can change the game whilst keeping Kane on the pitch is a must. However, whether a top striker will want to play second fiddle to Harry Kane is another matter. We have been linked with players like Fernando Llorente, Charlie Austin and Christian Benteke and I can see them joining clubs who promise them first team football rather than back up and the occasional start in the Europa League.

Another position that needs a new player is the centre of midfield. Nabil Bentaleb is proving to be a great addition to the side, but he needs someone next to him who will just sit back, protect the back 4 and let Bentaleb boss games. Spurs have already missed out on Morgan Schneiderlin, and no one seems to be linked with us in that position, which is a huge concern. Ryan Mason played a large part In the back end of last season, but we need someone we know can rule the pitch. We missed out on Yohan Cabaye recently, but i wouldnt put it past Tottenham to look at the French League or look towards Fredy Guarin again.

The defense has been tightened up this window, but more cover in the full back areas is vital for us. Kyle Walker and Danny Rose will most likely start the majority of the season, but Eric Dier isn’t a full back and neither is Jan Vertonghen, and Ben Davies doesn’t seem to be making the impact he or the club wanted.

We need more strength in depth this season, and a few more additions up front, in the centre of the field, and at the back will help us in our push for success. Of course, this outlook can change if we sell one of our key players, but at the time of writing, we haven’t sold any key players, which quite frankly is amazing for Tottenham.

The rumours will keep flooding in, and the fans will continue to speculate but only time will tell who we will sign and what will happen to the club in the future.
