Kieran Trippier- It’s Not Just His Ability Tottenham Are In Search Of

The signing of Kieran Trippier for £3.5m a couple of weeks ago seems a little odd considering that we already have DeAndre Yedlin at the club. So does the signing spell the end for Kyle Walker? Here’s why the signing of Kieran Trippier is not just to unlock the full potential of the former Burnley defender.

Who remembers Spurs signing Ben Davies from Swansea City? Yes, it did seem strange at the time didn’t it? But the Welsh left-back has had more impact on the Tottenham side than you may think. You don’t have to put in good performances week in, week out to have a big impact on the side.

Don’t you think that it is a little bit of a coincidence that as soon as Ben Davies signs for Spurs, Danny Rose has one of the best seasons in a Spurs shirt that he may ever have? Or is there more to see from Rose? Has he showcased his full ability yet? However, the facts are that following the arrival of Ben Davies, the performances of Danny Rose improved, and come the end of the season, he is considered one of the most, if not the most, improved player of the season.

I personally think that the purchase of Kieran Trippier was a very tactical buy from Mauricio Pochettino and Paul Mitchell. He is a guy with Premier League experience, he is young, and has proven that he can perform to a very high level in this league.

Not only will Trippier bring his own quality to the club, he may end up bringing the very best out of other right-back Kyle Walker. The Englishman has been inconsistent this season, and took a while to get going once he returned from injury, which is normal.

Trippier will give Kyle Walker some serious competition for a place in the first-team, and this may motivate Walker to perform, and he could end up putting in a blinder of a season, just like Danny Rose did in the campaign just past. We have already seem from his time at Burnley that Tippier can put in some high quality performances when called upon.

So, the signing of Kieran Trippier is not just to benefit from his own quality, but to hopefully to get the full potential out of Kyle Walker.
