Reports suggest that Spurs could make a £20m bid for the striker, despite Tim Sherwood cklearly stating that it would take a bid of £32.5m to trigger the Belgian’s release clause in his contract.

Benteke wants European football next season, narrowing his options to three clubs, Chelsea, Liverpool and indeed Tottenham, who all will take part in either the Champions League or the Europa League.

Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to strengthen his strike force this summer, and despite Harry Kane scoring 21 Premier League goals this season, Pochettino will be looking to add depth up front with both Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado both misfiring in recent times.

Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested, so if Spurs want to sign the striker, then they will have to act fast for sure.
