It’s our final home game of the season at White Hart Lane and so we need to sign off a rollercoaster of a season with a win. We host Hull City who bring back to N17 for the first time since leaving, former Club Captain, Michael Dawson, who is sure to be given a great ovation from the home fans.
Hull are in the relegation zone and must win or else it could be curtains for them after the weekend’s results if it all goes against them so they have it all to play for. So the Tigers will be looking towards Dawson and former Spurs man Tom Huddlestone to inspire the Tigers to a badly needed win.
Their preparations have been hampered by the revelations that another former Spurs player Jake Livermore has been suspended by Hull after testing positive for cocaine. At a time of the season when the manager needs his entire squad pulling in the same direction, it’s something Steve Bruce could do without right now.
These off-field distractions coupled with the amount of pressure on Hull could well play into our hands and allow us to pick them off and secure ourselves a much needed win to round off the season on a high note.
Predicted Line-Up: (4-2-3-1)
GK: Brad Friedel
With nothing to lose and with his retirement announcement this week, it would be very fitting for Friedel to cap off an amazing career with a final home appearance.
DF: Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Federico Fazio, Eric Dier
Rose should return from a leg injury to provide width on the left hand side. Fazio should helpfully be partnered with Vertonghen at CB whilst Dier should continue to cover at RB.
MF: Paulinho, Nabil Bentaleb
With opportunities being few and far between, this could well be Paulinho’s last game to prove if he has any value or future in Pochettino’s plans at Spurs alongside Bentaleb in Midfield.
AT: Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela
With no major injuries reported, the trio of Eriksen, Chadli and Lamela should all start as the front 3 as they aim to find form and rediscover their magic touch before the season concludes.
ST: Harry Kane
As his incredible season comes to an ending it would be nice for Harry to sign off with another goal or two to finish a season that has seen him mature beyond any of our expectations.
