The Daily Express report that Tottenham are interested in Celtic centre-back Virgil van Dijk, and will reportedly make an attempt to sign the defender in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Spurs are lining up a potential £10m bid that the North Londoners hope will persuade the Scottish club to sell up.

Everton and Sunderland have both shown an interest in the 23-year-old, and it looks like Spurs will have to battle it out with the Toffees and the Black Cats if they are to land the Celtic man.

Tottenham’s defending has been nothing short of shambolic, keeping just seven clean sheets this season in the process, and yesterday’s 3-0 defeat at Stoke shows that we will need to invest heavily in the summer, adding some stability to the defence.

It is likely that Vlad Chiriches will leave the club this summer, after being sent off at the Britannia, in what will probably be his last game for Spurs, and has been linked with a summer move to Roma.
