Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been sent home due to a family issue. It is believed that one of his close family members has become extremely ill. Spurs have said that it is a ‘private matter’.

This means that the striker will miss Tottenham’s trip to Besiktas, although he was already a doubt to make the starting eleven. It is also unlikely that he will return for our trip to Wales to face Swansea, and could possibly miss a sizeable chunk of the busy festive period.

Adebayor’s season started well, seeming to build a good relationship with head coach Mauricio Pocehttino, and was one of the Argentine’s surprise selections as a vice-captain. He started off well, scoring a goal against QPR in our second Premier League match and one in October against Newcastle.

However, the striker was dropped in the middle of November, presumably due to the comments that he made about the White Hart Lane support. Adebayor has failed to secure a regular starting spot since these comments.
