Tottenham advanced to the knockout stages of the Europa League after they picked up a 1-0 win over Partizan Belgrade courtesy of a Benjamin Stambouli goal in the second half. Whilst there was praise for the summer signing, praise was also flooding in for Argentine Erik Lamela, who also put in a very promising performance. Although Roberto Soldado put in a good performance, made the runs and put in the effort, he failed to find that goal that will boost his confidence when he finds it. Here is how Twitter reacted to our 1-0 win.
If you think of it, this is Lamela’s first ‘proper’ season for Tottenham. He’s improving game by game and that’s encouraging for me.

Good win in an incendiary atmosphere at the lane. They made it difficult for us, but had few chances. We’ll need to improve in knockouts tho

Stambouli coming forward is a joy to watch. Never looks backwards for a pass or even sidewards – always looking to orchestrate an attack.

Lamela seemed to play well throughout. He is the key to Premier League chances as our most talented player, with Lloris and Eriksen.

The only way Soldado can score for Spurs Woodwork and a follow up goal

I really think if we keep playing lamela he will come good ,great feet ,not frightened to shoot, but most of all he wants the ball, good game.

Once Lamela finally breaks out of his shell and performs week in, week out it’ll be sad to see him join Real Madrid the following summer.

I am going to say it. But when lamela and soldado finally put it in the net in the premier league. They will flood in. #prolific

My man of the match – @Coco_Lamela. Worked so hard, some great shots and looking more & more confident. Well done.

A win is a win. Onto the knockouts.

Next week, we will find out an awful lot about Tottenham Hotspur this season with life under Mauricio Pochettino. We face an in-form Everton on Sunday, and then we face a very tough trip to Stamford Bridge, where we will face unbeaten Chelsea. Whilst many will be thinking about avoiding embarrassment, some may be thinking that we should give these two fixtures a really good go.
