Michel Vorm- 6

He wasn’t called upon too often, but when he was, he rose to the task sufficiently. He looked a bit sloppy early on, that was shown when he passed the ball straight out of play for a corner.

Kyle Naughton- 7

I thought Kyle had a really good game returning from injury. He showed real attacking intent when moving up the pitch, and didn’t forget his defensive duties, allowing little down his wing.

Jan Vertonghen- 6

Jan made a couple of surging runs forward and allowed little past him for the whole ninety minutes. He made a last ditch tackle when the scores were locked at 0-0.

Federico Fazio- 6

He had much the same performance as Vertonghen on the night. He could have used his height more to get on the end of some good crosses that were delivered in at times from corners.

Ben Davies- 6

Ben looked pretty solid at the back, but when getting forward he looked hesitant when getting forward and didn’t quite know what to do when he burst into attacking positions.

Benjamin Stambouli- 6

He linked up play well in the middle of the park and had one shot early on that fizzed wide of the mark. Other than that, it was another strong performance from the summer signing.

Mousa Dembele- 6

Moussa played much like Stambouli in the middle, but we need to see more of those driving strong runs that we used to see from the Belgian that caused defences trouble.

Andros Townsend- 5

It wasn’t really one his best nights as he failed to get good crosses into the box. I felt that he was also quite wasteful when cutting inside and shooting like he usually does.

Nacer Chadli- 5

He didn’t really have too much of an impact on the game after coming on off the bench.  He lost the ball with his first touch, but made some surging runs in the closing stages.

Aaron Lennon- 6

He came off at half-time as he seemed to have picked up a knock, but in the 45 minutes that he did play, he performed generally well, creating some chances and getting into some good positions.

Erik Lamela- 8

He turned the game on its head after coming on for Lennon. He brought some trickery and pace to the game and latched onto a Roberto Soldado pass  to score his goal with a neat finish.

Harry Kane- 7

He contributed with another goal to see us to a well-earned victory. This wasn’t one of his better performances, but he looked good in the first half and showed strikers instinct for his goal.

Paulinho-  N/A

The Brazilian was only on the pitch for little over five minutes, and only managed to string a few passes together.

Roberto Soldado- 6

It was a frustrating night for Soldado. He was making the right runs, but not receiving the ball, which disheartened him a bit. He hit the crossbar and again, his link-up play was good.
